We moved!

You're in the wrong place!  We have a brand-spankin' new blog here (www.jmalahyblog.com)!  Go check it out and tell us what you think!  Huge thanks to everyone who has been following us here...it's been awesome to see it grow and to see people following from all over the country!

Mary Ellen & David

After a few weeks of hanging out with the family and trying to get caught up, I was ready to start shooting again this week...perfect timing for Mary Ellen and David.  Mary Ellen is doing her residency in another city, so Labor Day weekend was one of the only chances she was going to get to come home before the wedding in November.  It was an awesome weekend for a laid back engagement shoot.  You guys are awesome, I can't wait for the wedding!

mmmm...film.

I had a rare weekend off last week, so we finally took an opportunity to get some fun shots of the kids...it was also an opportunity to play with some film!  The real motivation for the shoot was the fabulous vintage high chair that Maribeth refinished.  It was kind of rough and brown when she found it...but now it looks amazing!  If you check out our family blog here, you can see the chair in more detail.  Anyway, I don't get a lot of chances to show off my beautiful family...so here are a few film favorites...

Cypress Albums

These are the most sophisticated, elegant albums and books on the market...that's why they are our preferred option.  Check it out...

Hayley & Jordan

Hayley & Jordan's wedding may have been on the hottest day of the year...if not, it definitely felt like it!  Other than the heat, everything was perfect!  The ceremony and reception were in the early afternoon at their church, then the three of us went to the town square for some shots.  After our session (great idea, btw Hayley!), we proceeded to the "after party."  Nice.  Hayley's father is Venezuelan and Jordan's family is Lebanese, so they decided to have a sort of blending of the cultures with the food they served.  Again, nice.  Gorgeous wedding, awesome couple, great families and friends, killer food...So what if it was a little hot!

Brittany & Kyle

After a week of tornados and thunderstorms, the clouds broke just in time last Saturday for Brittany and Kyle's wedding.  Great couple, great friends, great party...you guys are awesome!  Thanks for letting me be a part of it!

Thank you...and keep praying!

Thank you to all who are praying for my little friend Elizabeth.  To keep you updated: she underwent surgery yesterday to remove an infection on her brain.  They were not able to get to all of the infection without risking paralysis or other permanent damage, so they will will continue to aggressively treat it with medication.  Elizabeth is in ICU at LeBonheur now, and will probably be moved back to St. Jude once she is able.

I don't talk about my faith much here, because this is a place for my clients and friends to catch up on our business and see our work.  Today...I don't care...so here goes...

Please continue to pray.  We believe in God the Healer; and while we do not know his plan or his timing, we have seen him do amazing things!  Pray that He would heal her precious body here on Earth, so that He might be glorified.  Pray for Elizabeth's parents and her two older brothers, pray that they will have peace and faith.  Pray for the doctors that are treating her, ask God to give them wisdom and discernment.  They are his instruments of healing.  Just pray!

You can read more about Elizabeth and stay updated here.

Erin & Jayme

Does it sound bad if I say I love a man in uniform?  HA!....yeah, sounds bad.  I love military weddings, how about that?  There is something about a groom in uniform that adds such a cool dynamic to the images.  Anyway, I dig it...and Erin & Jayme's wedding was no exception.  If you've been reading the blog lately, you have probably seen their engagement session...so you probably read that Jayme is a photographer for the Navy.  Oh yeah, and his dad is a professional commercial photographer...no pressure.  We had a gorgeous day and an awesome wedding party, so it made my job fun and easy!  Pressure, shmessure!  Check it out...

Please pray.

I've shared my work with Habitat for Hope here on this blog several times.  Every child and family that I've had the chance to work with has been a huge blessing to me.  Last year I met the Dunford family from Louisiana.  Elizabeth was less than two years old and was winning her fight with Leukemia.  After a successful bone marrow transplant, she began to have complications.  Over the last year Elizabeth has fought several issues, and now her situation has become more serious.  I don't want to try to give specifics for fear that I might not get the details right, but you can read more here.

Here are a few of my favorite shots from my day with her family.  Please pray for little Elizabeth.

I've been meaning to do this for a while, and I've finally finished it...our new pricing guide.  If you want more information, send me an email and I'll send you the full sized version!

Brittany's Bridal Session

Brittany and I got together for her bridal shoot a couple of weeks ago, and now that the wedding has passed I can finally post some shots.  Here are a few favorites...stay tuned to see the rest of the wedding!

Becca & Erin's Engagement

Becca and Erin are getting married next summer, but they decided to go ahead and schedule their engagement session before she leaves to spend several months working in France...St. Tropez...tough gig, huh?  Great idea, Becca!  I may have picked the nicest day of the year...it was gorgeous!  You guys looked awesome...I'm just bummed that I have to wait a year to shoot you again!

Erin & Jayme's Engagement

Erin and Jayme's wedding is in a couple of weeks.  We've had to reschedule their engagement session a couple of times because of weather and travel stuff, so I was glad that we finally got a chance to hang out for a little while last week...thanks for your patience Erin, I think it was totally worth the wait!  Jayme serves in the Navy as a combat photographer (seriously, how cool is that?!...also, that's the explanation for the hats...you'll see what I mean in a second.)  It is always fun (and intimidating) to shoot another photographer...I love to talk shop, but I can't get away with anything!  It was awesome discussing how and what he does.  He will be heading back to Iraq shortly after the wedding, so keep this new family in your prayers.  God bless you both, and thank you for your service!

Megan & Justin

After a wild and crazy wedding the night before, I spent last Saturday with Megan and Justin...part two of the double weekend!  Megan and Justin contacted me last spring about their wedding.  Megan was on top of her planning because she wanted to be sure to have the perfect day...on the perfect date!  Their first date was on the 4th of July, so it was only fitting that they be married on the 4th too!  And hello, free fireworks displays all over town?!  I was a little concerned about being tired the day after a late wedding, but Megan and Justin were so much fun to be around that I never even thought about it.  Seeing the way you guys looked at each other just reminded me that I have the coolest job in the world!

Shauna & Jon

Shauna played soccer in college, and Jon is a professional hockey player...apparently all of the years of hardcore training have resulted in some crazy endurance that lets them party all day and night...and what a party it was!  Great couple, great friends, great locations...awesome!  Shauna planned some extra time after the ceremony and rented a party bus for the wedding party, so we got to shoot some really cool stuff around downtown...great idea!  I had a blast, and I was beat by the end of the night...especially knowing that I had another awesome wedding the next day (more on that to come).  Big thanks to Lori Anne for assisting/shooting with me at the church!
